Salem Mathkour Al-Lami is an Iraqi artist born in Emarah City in 1968. He graduated from the Fine Arts College in Baghdad in 1988. Al-Lami’s work has been featured in numerous international watercolor biennials across Mexico, Slovenia, China, Canada, Italy, and more. Notable group exhibitions include “Faces” at Al Markhiya Gallery in Qatar with Ismael Azzam (2013), shows at Bisan Gallery in Qatar, and contemporary Arabic art displays in Jordan. He has held several solo shows, such as “Sceneries from Qatar” (2010), “Women” in Amman (2002), collaborative music-art exhibitions like “Trip” (2000), and others at Orfali Gallery in Jordan and institutions in Baghdad and Spain. Al-Lami’s paintings exploring Iraqi themes and landscapes have earned him recognition across the Arab world and internationally.
